| Nutritional role of Molybdenum in human
body |
Molybdenum
is an essential trace mineral in animal and human nutrition.
It is found in several tissues of the human body and
is required for the activity of some enzymes that are
involved in catabolism, including the catabolism of
purines and sulfur amino acids.
It is also needed to build strong tooth enamel and
it may help prevent dental decay.
Molybdenum prevents and treats molybdenum deficiency.
Molybdenum has putative anti-carcinogenic activity.
As a component of various enzyme systems, molybdenum
plays essential roles in the metabolism of carbohydrates,
fats, proteins, amino acids that contain sulfur, iron,
and genetic material. |
| Effects of Molybdenum
Deficiency |
Molybdenum Deficiency is very rare,
occurring mostly as a consequence of other serious
disorders or a build up of copper and / or sulfate.
Symptoms include breathing problems and neurological
disorders.
The deleterious effects of molybdenum deficiency were
primarily due to the accumulation of sulfite coming
from the catabolism of L-cysteine. Sulfite is toxic
to the nervous system and molybdenum is necessary for
its metabolism to a nontoxic form. Both tungsten and
copper are molybdenum antagonists. Molybdenum deficiency
in animals, results in retarded weight gains, decreased
food consumption, impaired reproduction and shortened
life expectancy. High intake of molybdenum is antagonistic
to copper and can produce a condition in animals known
as molybdenosis. |
| Dr.
Wong on Molybdenum and Systemic Yeast Infections
(Candida Infections or Candidiasis) |
Yeast living in you
eats the sugars and carbohydrates and urinates out
14% alcohol. This alcohol is responsible for the brain
fog and general malaise that candida patients feel.
Your basically a walking beer factory. Molybdenum is
a mineral which when taken in by the yeast short circuits
the alcohol production making it so the yeast urinates
out water instead of alcohol.
Molybdenum Citrate is the preferred
form of the mineral as it is more highly absorbed and
utilized than most any other form of molybdenum.
Where as it would take 500 mcg or more of molybdenum
glycinate or gluconate to do the job of stopping alcohol
production it only takes 120 mcg of the molybdenum
citrate to do the same job.
The citrate of any
mineral is the best absorbed form of that mineral.
The glucinate form are minerals bonded to sugars:
sugars slow down mineral absorption. The minerals bonded
onto amino acids ignore the fact that proteins need
to latch onto a lipid (fat) in order to be transported
across the intestinal wall. Anything in the citric
acid family, including Vitamin C, gets absorbed instantly
with no need to catch a ride onto something else in
order to get into the body.
The
Molybdenum Citrate has become
so popular, due to Dr. Wong's work, that it has
unavailable from the manufacturer since November
2007. And we have been forced to look for an alternative
product that is absorbable and works as well. This
is one of the instances where something that seemed
initially as a bad thing (ie: the inavailablity of
Molybdenum Citrate) turned into a blessing in disguise.
The product we've found, Liquid Molybdenum from Allergy
Research Group, is a highly diluted solution of ammonium
molybdate and is every bit as absorbable as the Molybdenum
Citrate. While having many more servings per bottle
for a comparable price to the older product. And,
according to Allergy Research Group, may be the most
absorabable form of Molybdenum. Usual dose is 1 to
3 drops a day in any liquid or under the tongue.
One bottle should last about 200 days.
